Define 'excessive'

Photography is not a crime. Obviously. But authorities on both sides of the Atlantic suggest otherwise. There's been a number of well-documented over-zealous police actions in the UK, which prompted the protests in Trafalgar Square this weekend. But just so you don't think its just UK snappers getting a rum deal - check this out from the Chicago Transit Authority. Can someone clear up what constitutes 'excessive' photography? No, me neither. Just fiddling

Sunday afternoon, an hour spare, time to play with Blogger a bit. Profile updated, survey added (take part if you fancy), time to write another post...

It's an embarrasing fact that I haven't taken any photos for over two months. Shocking, really and something that needs to change. The last time I used a camera for anything other than snaps was when I was in New York - see pic taken in Times Sq. I think part of the reason is that photography is, for me at least, a very solitary way to pass the time. I can't take pictures while the wife/kids are in tow, I need time to absorb a place and start seeing properly. That process invariably takes at least a couple of hours and finding a couple of hours these days is bloomin tricky. Finding a couple of hours free when the weather is decent is even trickier. Roll on summer.

First time out

So here's the deal. I've been meaning to start this for a while, but have never quite got round to it. Until now. I'm not entirely convinced that I'm going to be able to keep this going, but what will help is people dropping by, saying hello and generally interacting with the stuff that I'm going to spout on about. I'll try and keep it all to photography, but there might be times when I go off on one and, well, I guess you'll just have to bear with me on that.

So, hopefully, this is the start of a long and exciting ride. But then again it might be the first and last post I ever put up.

Stay tuned for the next exciting installment. Maybe
